We can all agree that gum is sticking around – literally and figuratively. The gum category grew 16.7%, totaling $3.1 billion in sales as of May 21, 2023 (Candy Industry). It’s easy to see why.
Gum, while offering sweet flavors, feels like a better-for-you option. Pieces of gum are generally small in size and typically not a huge number of calories. And can be enjoyed while on the go and easily shared with friends.
There’s also the nostalgia of gum. All of us can remember using some coins to get a gumball from a gumball machine and the fun and excitement that brings.
