It’s May. The countdown to Memorial Day and the start of summer has begun. Can’t wait until the end of the month to start celebrating? Start now with May’s food holidays!

Food holidays are a great way to turn the everyday into a celebration!

Let’s get the party started with a few of our food holiday favorites.

National Strawberry Month

Strawberries are THE quintessential summer food. Our love of the tangy, sweet fruit is so strong, there’s whole festivals dedicated to them!

Our top choice for celebrating on the go – Clever Candy 3D Gummy Strawberries . Not only do they look like the real thing, they’re full of those summertime flavors we love!

Strawberries are also a regular member of the breakfast and brunch scene. Time to take it up a notch with Maple Grove Farms Strawberry Syrup. Full of sweet strawberry flavor, it’ll make a BERRY nice addition to pancakes and French toast.

May 1-7 – National Raisin Week

As we creep closer to summer, we’re all craving a little bit of sunshine. While the forecast might not be cooperating JUST yet, we grab a bite of sunshine from the sweet taste of raisins.

There are SO many different ways to enjoy raisins, that you can celebrate differently every day. A favorite for raisin week celebrations – Nassau Candy’s Rainbow Delight Nut Mix.  A blend of raisins, M&M’S® milk chocolate candies, peanuts, hazelnuts, sunflower seeds, roasted almonds, and cashews, the Rainbow Delight Mix is a celebration for the senses.

It IS getting close to Memorial Day so it IS ok to break out the white like the yogurt coating on Nassau Candy’s Yogurt Raisins. It adds the perfect touch of creamy sweetness.

May 2 – Chocolate Truffle Day

We can see why chocolate truffles would get their own day. Chocolate’s always better with a decadent nut, cream, or fruit filling. It’s like a celebration in every bite.

We like our parties colorful like the shimmery metallic wrappers found on iconic Lindt Lindor Truffles. What’s under the wrapper is just as good — expertly crafted milk, dark, or even white Swiss chocolate with rich, premium fillings.

If you’re feeling something that’s a little more handcrafted, then you will love celebrating with Birnn Truffles

Whether reveling with their larger Dessert Truffles or their Mini truffles, each Birnn truffle is handcrafted using the finest ingredients. They’re also dressed for a party with elegant decorations that’s a nod to the filling within. It’s like Birnn truffles are ready for a selfie!

May 4 – Candied Orange Peel Day

Make way Star Wars fans. On May 4 we’re celebrating the star of the citrus scene – or more specifically their peels.

For the extra daring, dive right into the tart yet sweet taste of candied oranges with the high tea classic, TipTree ‘Crystal’ Orange Marmalade. For this candied orange creation, Seville oranges are simmered and jarred with fine shreds of the peel for a spread that is unique in flavor and texture. Great on toast or an English Muffin.

Chocolate and orange are always a good pairing, so if you’re a little less daring, then celebrate with a handful of Nassau Candy’s Dark Chocolate Orange Peels.

May 5 – Cinco De Mayo

Ok so Cinco De Mayo wasn’t originally a food holiday, but a date that commemorates Mexico’s victory over France at the Battle of Puebla (History.com). Here in the US, Cinco De Mayo has morphed into a day where we honor and celebrate Mexican culture by enjoying all things Mexican food.

Lucas line of candies is a way to get an authentic Mexican candy experience and celebrate Cinco De Mayo. The Lucas line of candies pair savory chili, tamarind, and Chamoy flavorings with fruit flavors like peach, mango and watermelon. The candies themselves are just as unique like Muecas – a lollipop to dip in chili powder, Polvos – candy power in fruit flavors mixed with chili, or the Salsagheti – gummy strips with sauce to pour over it.

May 11 – Eat What You Want Day

Like the name implies, anything goes for Eat What you Want Day. The celebration is all about indulgences, so the richer the food or candy the better.

While it’s hard to choose, our favorite way to celebrate Eat What You Want Day might just be our Clever Candy Everyday Packaged Line of gummies. From the fluffy marshmallow bottoms of our Killer Sharks, to the surprising caramel flavor of our Trusty Turtles, you can’t help but want to enjoy again and again.

The chocolate fans would say that Nassau Candy’s Milk Chocolate Sea Salt Caramel Pretzels are a close second for an Eat What you Want Day Celebration. They offer many indulgences all in one bite. Crispy, salty mini pretzels, buttery caramel, creamy milk chocolate, all topped off with a bit of sea salt for a salty and crunchy finish.

May 15 – Chocolate Chip Day

Today’s the day to honor our friend-CHIP with the true rock stars of cookies and other snacks – chocolate chips!

While eating a chocolate chip cookie might be the classic way to celebrate, now’s the day to try something new like Cookie Dough Bites Chocolate Chip Soda! Sweet, fizzy cookie dough flavored soda in a glass bottle tastes great and creates a picture perfect social post.

Remember — chocolate chips aren’t ONLY for amping up cookies. They add a sweet surprise and crunch to pretzels too. So celebrate with Nassau Candy’s Dalmatian White and Dark Chocolate Chip Premier Pretzels. 3 ring chocolate covered pretzels speckled in white and dark chocolate will instantly transform your celebration into a black-tie affair.

May 18 – I Love Reese’s® Day

Our love affair with Reese’s® and it’s creamy peanut butter runs so deep, it needed it’s own holiday.

It’s a celebration so let’s go BIG and party with over-the-top Reese’s creations like the Reese’s Big Cup. Or, if you’re celebrating with friends, Reese’s Peanut Butter Giant Bar with 15 squares of Reese’s peanut butter sandwiching milk chocolate.

For the peanut butter purists, there’s nothing wrong with celebrating with a classic like Reese’s Pieces.

May 23 – National Taffy Day

It’s almost Memorial Day! Let’s get pumped by celebrating with a summertime classic – Taffy. Go old school with salt water taffy.

The salt water taffy brand Taffy Town Taffy is great for a celebration because they offer sooo many flavors. From a classic like cherry, to fun like caramel apple, to the truly unique like coconut curry.

Or for a candy and a show, snack on Laffy Taffy. Each piece of chewy, sweet fruit-flavored taffy comes with a dad joke on the wrapper to make you smile.

May 26 – Cherry Dessert Day

Kick off Memorial Day weekend in style by celebrating with a summer flavor favorite – cherries!

Feeling a little nostalgic? Then celebrate with a Big Cherry Milkshake Chocolate Bar.

First introduced in the 1930’s, Big Cherry starts with a whole, real cherry, surrounds it with melty cherry cream (in this case, a creamier “milkshake” flavor), then enrobes it all in delectable milk chocolate. Chopped roasted peanuts are the cherry on top of this nostalgic candy, adding a bit of crunch.

You can also toast all things sweet and cherry with Johnnie Ryan Cherry Soda. The longtime soda made with pure cane sugar packed up in long neck glass bottles offers an old time experience you and your friends will remember.

The countdown to summer has begun but we don’t have to wait until Memorial Day to celebrate. Create fun and excitement all month long by celebrating May Food Days.
