Pickles and Pickle Flavored Products are a Big Dill

2023 is the year of the pickle.

Pickles and pickle flavored products were everywhere at this year’s Sweets & Snacks Expo. There the dill-ightful briny, tangy flavor was added to everything from chips, to pretzels — even sweets!

Not surprising since 69% of consumers admit to liking or loving pickle, according to a recent Dataessential survey (Yahoo).

Whether you already know that pickles are a big dill or just getting into it, there’s may ways to add this flavor trend to your snacking routine.

Relish the Savory

One factor leading to pickles’ “brining” moment is social media.

Trending on TikTok is #picklechallenge. Here people are dare one another to eat a pickle wrapped in a fruit snack and sprinkled with chili powder.

A favorite for the pickle challenge is Van Holten’s. Particularly the spicy varieties Hot and Tapatio (yes, it’s brined with the classic Mexican Hot Sauce). The single serve pouches make it easy to take a new flavor for a test spin.

Beyond classic dill and spicy, Van Hoten’s offers sour varieties too. Even one in collaboration with iconic sour candy — Warheads! Van Holten’s Warheads pickles offer a sour and sweet taste you will surely relish.

Let’s admit it. Some of us have been tempted to just drink pickle brine. Van Holten’s makes that dream a little bit more portable with its Pickle Ice Pops

Like classic ice pops, you simply freeze the slender pouches of Van Holten’s Pickle Ice Pops and enjoy. Added bonus — Van Holten’s Pickle Ice Pops are enhanced with electrolytes to keep you cool and hydrated throughout the day.

Straight up pickles aren’t the ONLY way to enjoy the trend. Their flavor is popping up paired with salty snacks too.

Pickle flavor really adds to perfect twist to salty snacking favorite, the pretzel. We love Pop Daddy Dill Pickle Pretzels. Each batch is hand seasoned for an intense dill flavor. Perfect for enjoying on its own, or dunked in a creamy dip.

Potato chips are renewing their relation-CHIP with pickles too. We guarantee you won’t be able to put down Route 11 Dill Pickle Potato Chips

Crafted with the finest ingredients, Route 11 Chips offer the vinegary tang of a salt and vinegar chip with the extra pop of dill flavor. Try them instead of a classic pickle on your next sandwich for some added crunch.

Dill-lightfully Sweet

The love for pickle products is running so deep that even candy and soda manufacturers are tossing their hats into the ring.

The trend for pickles might be new, but they actually date back to ancient times. Guess that’s why the flavor makes the perfect pairing with old time candy favorite, salt water taffy like Taffy Town Pickle Salt Water Taffy.

Tangy flavors meet sweet taffy for a memorable sweet and sour bite. But what makes the Taffy Town Taffy brand dill-luxe is its taffy is whipped to create a signature soft chewy texture .

Even with a departure from the classic savory pickle flavors, you might want something familiar. Like the iconic pickle shape found in Melville Lollipop’s Sweet & Sour Pickle Lollipops. Hand poured AND featuring a sour but sweet flavor? What a sweet dill!

All these pickle sweets and snacks are in need of a refreshing beverage. Why not serve up a double dose of flavor with Lester’s Fixins Pickle Soda?   A little tang paired with the classic sweet, Lester’s Fixin’s Pickle Soda is a cool way to cool down.

Time to brine! Pickled flavored sweets and snacks are in hot demand.

There are soo many ways to get in on the trend – from munching on a pickle with new flavors, to getting added crunch and a touch of sweet from pickle flavored snacks and sweets. There’s never a dill moment when pickle flavored snacks are part of the equation.
