When it comes to what’s better-for-you, this year it’s personal. Instead of one particular health path or diet trend, we’re all making our own choices on what’s healthy, according to market research firm, Datassential.

While our health journey might be personal, there are a few snack types coming out on top. Read on to uncover the snacks getting all the likes.

Plant-based

Plant-based continues to be a top food trend, with plant-based options on menus growing 60%, according to market research firm, Datassential.

There are more plant-based snacking options popping up too!

Some are plant-based, meat-free alternatives to road trip snacking favorite, jerky like Noble Jerky Vegan Jerky. A classic meaty texture with iconic marinades and seasoning like teriyaki, hickory, and sweet barbecue, Noble Jerky is a plant-based source of protein you just have to try.

There’re also non-dairy versions of your cheesy snacking favorites.

If cheese puffs are your thing, then Hippeas Vegan White Cheddar Chickpea Puffs will satisfy. Made from organic chickpeas, each crispy, crunchy piece of the Vegan White Cheddar flavor is perfectly “cheesy,” while fitting today’s plant-based lifestyles.

When you want some extra crunch, opt for Love Corn Cheezy. Crunchy corn pieces sprinkled with vegan cheese flavoring offer a delightful crunch while being made with simple ingredients. Bonus – they’re gluten free too.

For the ultimate cheesy crunch, try Parm Crips Plant-based Sea Salt Crips. Parm Crisps is known for extra crunchy cheese crisps made with real cheese. Their Parm Crisps Plant-Based is a non-dairy alternative of this classic snack. Even without the dairy, Parm Crips Plant-Based serves up an intense crunch and cheesy flavor that is great as a standalone snack, paired with cheese, or as a salad topper.

Low Sugar

Low to no sugar is another big movement in the snacking space, according to Supermarket News.

When it comes to low sugar snacks, it’s all about finding ways to enjoy the indulgent flavors we love.

If it’s childhood chewy candy classics you’re seeking, then look to Project 7. From gummy bears, to sour gummy worms, to red licorice, each Project 7 chewy beauty is made with 3g sugar or less.

Gut health is another big health goal for this year, making fiber a big thing too. Many low sugar or no sugar options serve up some fiber too! Like Australian favorite Jols Sugar Free Fruit Pastilles.

A fancy way to say hard candy, Jols Sugar Free Pastilles are packed with fruit flavor, but are sugar free, fat free, and high in fiber. Your gut and taste buds will thank you.

Simple ingredients are also big in the low sugar space. Nothing is more simple than dried fruit with no added sugar for your sweet snack fix.

Feeling something chewy? Then it’s Peeled Snacks. Their dried fruits like mango and apple are made with organic fruit, nothing else for that just picked taste. Pouches make it easy to bring Peeled on the go.

For something a little more crispy, there’s Crispy Fruit from Crispy Green. Freeze dried fruit slices lock in all the sweet flavor, while offering a crisp crunch, all with no added sugar. Crispy fruit offers grove classics like apple and tangerine, even tropical like mango, pineapple, and banana.

Paleo & Keto

When it comes to full on food lifestyles, Paleo and Keto are still at the top of the list.

While they might go by names, the biggest part of both lifestyles is low carb and low sugar (Food Navigator). Along with low carbs and sugar are foods packed with protein. If they can have simple ingredients even better!

Paleo and Keto span the entire snacking spectrum, giving you lots of options.

On the savory side of things, there’s Lesser Evil Fiery Hot Paleo Puffs. When you combine crispy baked grain free puffs with a fiery blend of spices things really heat up.

Snack bars are a staple of better-for-you snacks. Pair it with a Paleo-friendly recipe found in Thunderbird Snack Bars and it will get your engines running!

Full of simple ingredients like dates, almonds, cacao and cashews in their Chocolate Almond Butter Sea Salt bar and dates, hazelnuts, cacao, maca, and coffee beans in thier Hazelnut Coffee Maca bar, Thunderbird satisfies the need for plant-based paleo snacking power.

For those of us keeping nut-free too, Ozery Super Seed Crunch Keto Snacks will be your snacking superhero. Clusters of pumpkin, sunflower, and flax seeds dressed up in Chocolate, Sweet & Salty, or Mixed Berries flavors offer a super crunch while being high in fiber and low in sugar.

Sometimes only a cookie will do. For those times turn to Birch Benders and their Keto Cookies.

Featuring classic cookie flavors like Double Chocolate Chip and Vanilla Shortbread, Birch Benders Keto Cookies bring that baked by grandma taste, all in a recipe that’s 3g net carbs and under with no added sugar.

Gluten Free

As wellness gets a bigger focus in 2023, we see continued interest in gluten free (Food Business News)

Since gluten free has been out for a bit, it’s hard to know where to start. We suggest starting with the the OG of gluten free, Schar

Craving something salty, then try Schar’s Entertainment Crackers for a snack or your next charcuterie platter. Experience Schar’s sweeter side with their Chocolate Thins, crisp, gluten-free cookies coated in premium European chocolate.

When taking your first dip into the gluten free pool, it can be helpful to see a familiar face. Good thing leading cookie brand Tate’s is making sure their gluten free fans aren’t left out.

From a gluten free version of their classic Chocolate Chip cookies, to a bold Ginger Zinger, to exotic Coconut Crisp, each Tate’s Gluten Free Cookie offers that classic crisp crunch and buttery flavor Tate’s is known for.

Even pretzels are getting in on the gluten free fun thanks to Gratify.  Gratify’s gluten free pretzels taste as flavorful and as crunchy as the full gluten classic.
